Best of the Northwest Deadline Extended to February 9

Looking for some recognition of your great work you do for your community media center? Enter the Best of the Northwest Awards!

The Best of the Northwest Awards is a chance for you to showcase exceptional media programs. This prestigious awards contest honors outstanding programs produced by community media/PEG (public, educational, government) access TV and other non-commercial media in the Northwest region (Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming) of the Alliance for Community Media.

For over 20 years, Best of the Northwest has supported programs that are made on a local level. With your entry, you’ll be joining a group of the Northwest’s most successful community and local access producers. Entries will be judged at community media centers outside of the Northwest Region.

Entries are being accepted now through the extended deadline of February 9, 2018. Awards will be presented at the Alliance for Community Media Northwest Regional Conference on April 28, 2018, as part of the ACM – Northwest Region’s conference in Portland, OR (check here for details).

The Best of the Northwest Awards is open for entries for the 2018 ceremony, scheduled for April 27-28 in Portland, Oregon.

The Best of the Northwest Awards showcases exceptional programs in community media. Best of the Northwest Award Deadline Extended!

The 2017 Best of the Northwest Awards (BOTNW) is now accepting entries! The BOTNW honors exceptional programs produced in calendar years 2015 and 2016 telecast on community television channels/outlets in the Northwest Region of the Alliance for Community Media (ACM). Non-commercial programs originally produced to play on PEG access centers, local-origination cable channels, or for independent, online distribution during calendar years 2015 and 2016 are eligible to enter.  The Awards will be presented as part of the Regional gathering on March 31-April 1 in Portland, OR.

Northwest Community Media leader wins Buske Leadership Award

Rob Brading, recently retired CEO of MetroEast Community Media in Gresham, Oregon is the winner of the 2016 Alliance for Community Media’s Buske Award for his service to our field.  Rob has as been a longtime volunteer with ACM and the Alliance for Communications Democracy.  In addition to his work for the national ACM, Rob has been a wonderful leader for the ACM Northwest Region for nearly 25 years.

The Buske Leadership Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated commitment to the mission and goals of the Alliance for Community Media, leadership within the organization within the last three years, a high degree of involvement in the organization nationally, regionally and at the chapter level, and continuing service to the ACM.

The ACM awards will be presented at the closing luncheon on Saturday, August 20 at the ACM National Conference in Boston. More information on the ACM National Conference can be found here.
